Hi...I'm relatively new at this Super 8 film-making. I have always been a video filmmaker, but I want to try my hand on real film.

I think I can find out how to work all of the equipment and edit everything fine...my question is the conversion afterwards.

What is the best way to convert an 8-mm film to say a VHS?

    Thanks,
    Sean

You could probably spend 10 hours reading info on this in the archives of past posts,.
Obviously, if you're new to this board, you wouldn't know that, but this has been covered extensively before, so there is a wealth of information at your disposal here.

On this subject, this is a suggestion/question for Mike Brantley:

Is there a way to display a couple statements on the home page of this hostboard, stating that new users can find such and such topics covered extensively in the archives, or maybe have a link to your website?
I mean, we hear this question over and over, and we hear "where can I get S8 film developed" over and over, which is fine, but it would be great if like the top 3 or 5 questions could be answered for newbies right off.
    Just a though.

    Lightbulb

I have converted super 8 to VHS once, and I projected the film onto a non-textured plain white surface, (I think it was the side of my desk) and then simply filmed it with a video camera, only thing is I couldnt get the sound because the video camera didnt have a plug for an internal mic, but appart from that it turned out okay, not the most technical way of doing it, but it worked suprisingly well!
